Richard A. Lefkowitz is an attorney who has practiced law in Southern California since 1993. He specializes in civil litigation of cases involving real property. His articles have been published in newspapers, law reviews, and literary and trade journals. He has taught journalism, led professional seminars, mentored students, and served as a judicial authority for Southern California superior courts. He lives in the Los Angeles area with his wife of thirty-three years, two children, and their precious now-grown puppy. His passions include running, hiking, the Dodgers, the Lakers, playing guitar and keyboards, and composing songs, lyrics, and stories.
Throughout all his days, Lefkowitz has prioritized the pursuit of knowledge, fulfillment, and good plain fun. That led to some delays. For example, he graduated from high school in 1974 but didn’t earn his college degree, in English, until 1985. Likewise, he didn’t complete law school until 1992. In 2017, he accomplished a feat that proved far more important to his search for meaning: he received a master of fine arts degree, in creative writing, from the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University, the legendary Buddhist-inspired school in Boulder, Colorado.
At this point, he plans to transition from courtrooms to bookstores; to meet and greet the fine people of the USA; to live, laugh, and learn about the many special times in our young country’s history; and to share his love for the world’s most hospitable city, Los Angeles, and the colorful contributions to American culture it continues to make.
